“Gosu” (고수) is a Korean word which literally translates as “High Hand”. It can be used to refer to someone who is an “Expert” or a “Professional”. When esports began to define itself in South Korea following the release of Starcraft: Brood War, “Gosu” began to be used to describe players as “Skillful” or “Awesome”.
For us, trying to be Gosu is about more than being very good at video games. It represents a desire to be the best that you can be, whatever that may mean to you, to constantly strive to improve yourself by challenging ourselves to be more than we are now, and we want to help you on that journey.
ToBeGosu was founded in 2014 by Eliot Miller with the aim to provide entry level esport events, and offer a battleground to the talent of tomorrow. Now we have expanded into board game designer nights and a variety of other gaming events that bring people together.
